I *think* thats part of the VC breather that goes to your PCV valve. I dunno if you'd be able to buy just that bit or not?

That's the main crankcase breather hose. I broke it in half while replacing my spark plugs, and noticed that the Audi mechanics at the dealer had broken it a few times before I did.

You can just tape it up with electrical tape or duct tape for now. That's an expensive piece of plastic. I recently replaced the entire CC breather system, to the tune of $159. I think that hose was about $120 of that total.

You can find just the breather hose on eBay for $50. Mine nearly crumbled to dust when I replaced the valve cover gaskets. I used a few layers of electrical tape until the new part arrived.

yeah, i just found some electrical tape in the garage and it seemed to me that it will hold up as long as it doesnt melt. i dont think that it would melt cuz it doesnt really get that hot on top of the valve cover gasket but we will see what happens. i also need to get a seal kit for my power steering pump cuz i think that its leaking. could you guys point me to where the power steering pump is located on my 1998.5 2.8 30v cuz i saw little drops on my skid plate right under the passenger side and i am not sure if it really is the pump leaking or something else.

Take off your top engine beauty cover. That big silver pulley at the top front of the engine, dead center, is the pulley. It's bolted directly to the pump.
