Default brake system set up!

lots of different options out there for a braking system. what type of brands do you recommend? cross drilled or slotted rotors? ceramic, ceramic fusion, deluxe brake pads? etc.

Depends on what you really want. A good replacement rotor and good set of pads will stop far better than stock. Semi metallic are better than organic and ceramic is better than semi metallic.

If you're looking to run larger rotors, you're also going to want to keep your wheel size and offset in mind. A8/TT brakes will need at least 16" wheels, and I believe Porsche/Touareg brakes require at least 17" wheels.

why does everyone stick with the stock on pot set up? while paying ~200 for tt carries and new rotors you can stock all the s4 bits; spindles, calipers, rotors... for about the same. For my summer project i am doing front s4 stock set up with possible cayenne upgrade, rear s4 calipers with b7 s4 rotor and 034 adaptor. 325mm front 300mm rear. Also two pot more effective than 1. Im not bashing the stock tt/A8 upgrade, I'm just curious as to why no one seems to step up to a more effect system for a tad more money.

also cayenne or tourags only fit S4 carriers. boxers fit a4 with the apikol/ 034 bracket.

I agree that its possible to get S4 front brakes for $200 but it isn't common and they're far tougher to come by than the A8/TT combo. Plus the S4 stuff would likely be used, my A8/TT stuff was all brand new.

well s4 stuff isn't uncommon by any means. the s4 stuff is used but that only covers the new caliper carriers you would buy, the rotors would be bought new. rebuild kit for all 4 calipers will make them "like new". It will cost a little more but in the end i believe it would out preform the tt a8 combo for not too much more. i have everything minus the rotors and i haven't eclipsed $300. so another $200 for good rotors. Thats $500 for Front and Rear improvements, with the option to add 6 pot brembos and 350mm rotors with zero modification.

I like most people did the TT/a8 setup when you could do it for less than $150.

Also most people even bat car people don't "need" anything more than TT/a8 setup. S4 stuff is great don't get me wrong, but major overkill.

Just sayin.

for a street car dd probably but I like the look of some nice brakes. I was going to buy the TT/A8 a while ago but upwards of $200 i just started sourcing S4 bits instead.

How would a dual piston set up be overkill? Many many many cars come stock with a front 2 piston caliper. Are the s4 fronts more advanced than a standard 2 piston?
