Brake pad up higher than rotor???....what to do with this freakin car....
hey guys, new to the site, but ill cut to the chase.. ive got a 99.5 audi a4 2.8L 5spd. I have done lots of work to it myself (just about everything you can think of on an a4). Now my license just expired and im saving money to fix the car up. Heres my problem, its got 315,000kms on it, it needs head gaskets, proper cold air intake, and ive ran into alot of brake problems for some reason. Newest brake problem now is that my one front passenger side brake pad has a circular groove in the top of it, as my rotor is apparently lower then the top of the pad, just got a new caliper and mount i put on it, but it seems its farther away from the rotor then the other brake set up. Beware of some new calipers.... Take a look!
What I am asking is, is this car even worth fixing up or just get rid of it? ive got it on kijiji right now, but no one has even been interested in it at all,
please help.... Someone?

so the caliper is pushing the pad on the edge of the rotor? that's no good man... might have warped the rotor. maybe you put on the wrong caliper mounts? thats something you can see after you put the caliper on.. maybe it was lose and tilted upward? i have no idea, i'd have to see the caliper. as for the pad, toss it. rotor maybe as well.

Did you put new rotors on when you changed pads? Does the pad hang over the edge of the rotor when installed? Perhaps the previous owner was running TT carriers and A8 312mm rotors. If you installed stock 288mm rotors, that would account for the difference you're seeing.
