ok, one main reason to have a boost guage... it can tell you if the car is having issues without a code poping

you might be in limp mode with only a soft cel... you might have a vac leak and no cell either

you could put it in your glove box if you don't want to see it... but having a boosted car with no guage is like having sex with a condom but no end.....

i personally wouldn't do it

also "watching" vagcom while driving is not very safe at all

You made several good points. Particularly this last about watching vagcom while driving.

Let me assure you that I don't watch vagcom while driving. I log vagcom while driving and then pull the log into excel and examine the results later when I'm not driving.

This brings up a good point! Vagcom (vcds-lite) is only sampling every 1.3 seconds - which is not enough while boosting. (the more recent versions that come with a geniune ross-tech cable have a turbo mode and can sample much more frequently).

Also, vagcom has a utility/program called vagscope that I have not yet played with - but it is suppose to graph data in realtime. I don't know if it samples any faster than logging does or not. Maybe it does a better job of capturing the peaks and valleys?).

So much to learn . . .
