Blue Smoke out of Exhaust!
Hey everyone, I have a 01 A4 1.8t with 99,000 miles. The car had sludge repair last year and the timing belt and all other maint has been done at the dealer. I decided to change the oil myself, got Mann filters and synthetic oil.
I changed my oil last week and noticed blue smoke out the exhaust when I rev the engine. I thought maybe it was from the recent oil change and would go away, but it has not. It smokes a little at start up and then also while driving, not a lot but enough you can see it while following the car.
I have read about turbos, valves, pcv valves, etc... Not so sure which one it is. Can someone give me an idea of where to start (besides the dealer) to get an idea about the cause.
Thanks,
B

Not my vid but here's an example of your scenario..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKnI3DS8ino]
Short clip of a 2.7t S4 with a blown turbo 10 miles before an oil seal went causing blue smoke. Noise gradually got worse over 5k miles, then suddenly went pop resulting in the noise in the vid.
Blue smoke + Dentist drill sound = BLOWN TURBO... sorry to break it to you.
Time for BIG TURBO upgrades

K03s are not reliable. 100k is the most you will see out of them. You can send it out to a place like GPopShop to see if it can be rebuilt, or else you can buy a new K03/K04 hybrid or a K04. Or you can do a big turbo upgrade.
