I'm really confused, (Hi, by the way...new here) anyway.

I'll start with : I have full speed control on my blower motor, and in "ECON" mode, it is completely normal sounding. However, I get lack-luster cooling.

If I take ECON off, the air is ice cold, the motor has all speeds and blows hard as ever, however! There is this horrifying shrill that comes from the engine bay and through the firewall.

Could this be my compressor? Wouldn't it's performance suffer? Or does ECON On/Off activate some secondary blower, or something bizaar.


Any help would be appreciated.

It's normal for the AC compressor to to make the engine sound louder,when the AC is turned on,once you turn it off,engine is much quieter,although,it shouldn't be too loud

 

Oh no, it's not just increased load or compressor operation. Compare the noise to a dentist drill(Although clearly not the turbo, will be at idle and only if ECON is off.
