Liefer, take it from someone that has owned/swapped a lot of cars in my day, just keep the A4 man. The audi won't do you wrong and when you buy something else or swap you almost always spend more and more trying to keep things working right, all the sudden your eye deep in debt and thats not where you want to be, but take it with a grain of salt.....

Evo's are a lot more than WRX's. Have fun finding a decent EVO8 for under 20k. And they're bout 5 years old! WRX's can be found as cheap as $10,000, but you get what you pay for. EVO > Subie's any day. Rex's suck a**. Anyways, Leifer, I think if the Audi is too much for your budget right now then get a Civic, Corolla or Sentra. That's if you're looking for true economy. Or a Hyundai or Kia. I doubt a V8 is "economical" guys.

Yeah my bad. I never thought you meant imported an Evo. $8,000 for an LanEvo. Not bad! Shoot I might just throw it down and have an Audi DD and a RHD. How bad was your friends 8?

I'm just starting to do my research on the world of cars around me, so my opinions may be misinformed. That 3000gt doesn't look so inviting anymore
Right now I'm looking at maybe a WRX or a 300zx, not so much that Jetta anymore. What other cars would be good, given the budget of a 19 year old college student? I don't want to have to deal with a **** ton of maintenance like I do with this car.

If you want super cheap AWD turbo, look into a DSM car (Talon TSi AWD or Eclipse). It will have a billion miles, a few leaks, and maybe some rust, but it will be cheap as dirt and fast.
3000GTs with AWD only come in VR-4 trim (twin-turbo). If it's cheap, it will have a billion miles or will be in need of some expensive work. Or, pay out the butt for a nice example!
300ZX is always a nice ride, but they suck in adverse weather. Turbo models are far and few between unmolested and fairly priced. They are -in general- reliable and fun, but as a DD, like any sports car, it can be a hassle.
When I could afford a nice car, but not the insurance for a nice car, I bought a Jag X-Type Sport 3.0 certified pre-owned. The insurance was less than a Nissan Maxima, it was AWD, and stick-shifted, so it was a no-brainer. Even though I'm a DIY kinda guy, it was still in the shop every 5K miles for warranty work. Buy Jag... MUST have warranty or a deep wallet!
That leaves us with Audi as far as fair-priced, fairly-reliable AWD sporty cars go...
