aw k really? didnt think it would matter to much. Maybe give it a change then perhaps? Any specific brand or that i should use? And i dare say being the kind of mechanics they were they would have used cheap crap. They also told me that when i change the fluid to fill it till it over flows? is this correct or cause damage?

It really, really matters. No specific brand, but here's the Audi one.

Audi B5 A4 Quattro V6 30v > Drivetrain > Transmission > Fluid > ES#261801 Automatic Transmission Fluid - 1 Liter - G052162A2

As I recall, you need a fluid that meets Esso LT 71141. Pentosin makes it too. If you've got some generic cheap stuff in there, I'd get it flushed out very soon, and replaced with the factory spec stuff.

No worries thanks for that mate ill give it a go tmoz and see how it goes. Any other ideas to try as well?

I really like it its a brilliant little car other than said problems, sure loves to take me money lol be a shame to have to trade her in though after spending so much on it. After today though not to sure whats going to happen to it as the dealer i bought it off didnt supply a safety cert and i kept harrasing em for one so they produced one today and guess what the safety cert dated two weeks before i bought the car has more kms on the odometer than when i bought it so i took it to the traffic authority and it checked out so im guessing theyve tried to either wind it back or screwed up the reading on the contract but more than likely wound it back cause i remember it being less than whats on the safety cert. :/

Hmmmmm...don't know you're legal system there, but sounds to me like it might be a good excuse to cram it back down the seller's throat, and get them to reimburse you for all you've spent.

Yea thats what ive done took all the paper work to fair trading to get it investigated. Its quite a illegal offence with some big fines and stuff but is quite hard to prove due to the dealer being able to say it was a written mistake so fingers crossed they can sort it out, also we have a fairly good legal system for this sort of thing as all the money people spend to renew licences and rego goes to a fund to pay for compensation and court costs on your behalf in these sorts of cases so it doesnt cost you anything.
Oh plus i tried to sort a deal out with him but denied it and didnt want nothing to do with me and by law i had to tell him i was taking it to fair trading before doing so.

Our laws don't protect consumers quite that much here in the States, but we have crooks just like yours!!

Been playin around with it this morning and i learnt if i keep my foot really really pushed down hard on the brake and give it just a little bit of constant gas it wont stall out. Any ideas why that could be? oh and the mechanics used maxlife full synthetic fluid for the tranny. Is it suitable or still recommend changing it?
