Default Belt Squeal when a/c is turned on...

When I turn on my a/c my belt will squeal from time to time for 15-20 sec at a time. When it does squeal I don't get cold air blowing out of the vents. When the squealing stops the cold air comes back. The belt looks brand new but I am not ruling it out. Anyone else have any ideas other than a bad tensioner or belt? Thanks!!!!

Most likely its a loose or bad tensioner. i suggest trying to tighten the tensioner some more. The AC tensioner is basically a pulley, and oneself is who installs the tension when its installed. this applies to the 1.8t, im not sure if the 2.8 is the same.

Where do I find the tensioner and do I just tighten it in a clockwise motion?

ON the 1.8t, the ac compressor has its own tensioner, its own accessory drive belt that goes from the crank, to compressor and tensioner. The tensioner has one pivot bolt, and the other bolt is loosened and the tensioner can slide upward to create more tension. This is how to tighten the tensioner for the compressor. You can access this belt through the bottom of the car, its right there a little towards the passenger side.
