Default Beer-hauling capacity of the B5

I made a post like this a few years ago but I figured that with all the newer guys on here, and the fact that many are in college or will be soon, it bears a reincarnation. You should be aware of the capacity of your car for hauling beer, both for knowledge of what your existing B5 can carry, or to help you decide whether maybe you should step up to an A6 or more.

Full beer capacity may be slightly lower due to the need for orderly stacking, but as for empties, we found that the B5 can carry two grown men with no beers in the front seat area, full or otherwise (don't wanna raise any alarms with the cops), and still have enough room for 37 12-packs and $7-8 worth of loose bagged miscellaneous returns in the back seat and trunk, while still leaving enough room for random tools, the spare tire, some pizza, and several bags of pretzels. Hopefully this helps your college career in some way.

Absolutely sloppy packing... As an purveyor of many a road trips with a wife and three kids, several vacations to the sandy beaches with no water at government expense, and just being an all around expert **** packer, it is imperative that I make note that with **** packing procedures, much more **** can be packed. Sometimes you have to cram it in there a little harder, sometime you have to ease it in carefully...

Otherwise, a very, very epic thread!

To be fair, two disclaimers should've been included:

1 - we had just finished two of those 12-packs and thus motor skills were not at their peak (and no we didn't jump in and drive away)

2 - that was all the empties we had, or we'd have put more in the car lol

I do agree that more space remains, but this is a general idea more than exact science
