Bailey DV Installed
Just got finished installing my new DV my car. I picked up a never used baliey DV - the one that AWE tuning sells, for $150 from a guy i found in allofcraigs. Just thought I'd do a quick little write up on it.

This is the kit, comes with new clamps and everything, and boy did i need them...

Crappy plastic stock one, Notice that rusted through bolt, yeah that was a bitch to get off...

After 30 mins of prying the old clamps off I finally got it out, notice how much bigger and nicer the bailey is

Another 15 mins to put the new one in and clamp it down and we're good to go!

How nice and shiny
All in all, i gotta say I haven't noticed a HUGE difference in performance yet, but I did notice. There is definitely less lag and it punches into second and third harder. I thought It would be louder though, but the actual sound that comes from it isn't really noticeable. I thought it would sound a little more like the forge 007.
But I like it, and it will certainly be good for the turbo once I chip and push more boost through it. AWE rates it around a 13hp increase on a chipped 1.8t in a new beetle. I wish i had a boost gauge so i could see exactly what its doing for the psi, oh well lol...
OH! while i'm at it. My car makes this ticking noise when it runs. It basically sounds like something is hitting the fan, but theres nothing there. It sounds like it's coming from the actual block. It goes with the revs too. but its only really noticeable in neutral and first, then dies away in second... any ideas?

No... stock airbox :/
I was thinking of getting an intake but since it doesnt really get me anywhere on performance its low priority lol..
But I think a sound vid would be redundant just because it doesnt sound any different... but... maybe i should so we can diagnose that damn ticking...

and you have to take the head apart to replace this, probably would want a mechanic to do this if you dont know what you are doing.

Are you sure its not the injectors? they have a hydraulic tick. Also, theres a little check valve right above your air box, it sits on top. Mine clicks awfully loudly. Finally, move the steering wheel. Its probably not that, but my pwr steering starting making a ton of noise one day for no apparent reason. Moved the wheel and it went away.

I need to do my timing belt here pretty soon anyways, is that something that would be on the way to the belt?
