Default Bad day working on my car yesterday...

So I was going to replace the cam tensioner gasket and the valve cover gaskets. So I'm compressing the cam tensioner with my cheapass plastic piece of crap tool from Ebay. Barely got any tension off when the bolt snaps on the tool, a post to keep the tool in place snaps off of the tensioner assembly, and the plastic pieces of the tool snapped off.

So now I have a new tensioner assembly and the Schwaben tool on order.

Oh, and I broke my cam sprocket while loosening my crank bolt (or maybe it was already broken/weakened). I asked my friend to shift the car to 5th and hold the brake. He did the first part, but then ended up holding the clutch even though he's driven a manual before. Didn't bend any valves though (as far as I know) and the pulley only had about 10* of play (and it was lined up when I went to remove it) so I should be ok. Engine's not in a position where I can easily spin the crank though so I'll find out later.

It's just one freaking thing after another. Ugh.

P.S. any tips on replacing the tensioner without using the compression tool? The bolt snapped off right where it screws in. I don't want to drill it out and risk getting shavings in my engine, nor do I want to take both cams off if I don't have to. Anyone know if I'll be able to wiggle the chain off by taking off the intake cam?

Wish I could help you on this one, but I have yet to dive this deep into my engine yet...

This is my first time working on a DOHC engine. I'm sure I can figure it out just fine, but it'll be easier for me if I have a game plan.
