B5 motor and 6 spd trans swap
So my b5 2.8 motor has 210k on it. The 5 SPd trans has a bent synchro for 2nd gear. I don't want a new car. I want to build this one up. So with the mileage and trans issue, I'm looking to swap the motor. I want to make this cost as little as possible. I can't decide on a vr6t, 1.8t, 2.7t or 2.7tt. Which ever is less costly. I want to make around 400 awhp when it's done and it will have boost. Any thoughts ideas, suggestions? Are there other things I need for the trans swap?

this is one of those posts that has been discussed more times than anyone who has frequented this site for more than a year can remember. all of those motors are viable options, and all have been swapped successfully. i really dont care to write multiple pages on the subject, so if you have specific questions i'll answer them.
as for the tranny swap, the fact you already have a 2.8 makes it much easier. its still not a simple bolt on, assuming you mean an 01e (b5 s4) transmission. they do make an 01a 6 speed (same style as our trannies) which are basically bolt ons

I'll throw a quick nugget in here - for one, 2.7T is a twin turbo. 2.7TT (if that were an actual Audi engine designation) would be that same engine. And if you want affordable, you can forget the VRT setup.

So I think I've decided to do the s4 conversion and go with a 2.7t + 6 spd trans. This is a parts list I've started. Anything else missing?
Ecu
2.7 block + heads + wiring harness
6 spd Trans
Intake and exhaust man
2 k03 turbos + intercooler+ diverted valves
Maf
Exedy clutch
