about a week ago i stopped at a red light and let of the brake pushed gas and the engine revved but car didnt go. I moved the shifter over to the manual side and it went just fine. Since then occasionally when i stop at a light or stop sign it will do it again. Every time it does it i can always shift over in to the manual mode and it runs fine. If i shift over to manual mode then back in auto when i am moving it runs and shifts fine. i checked my fluid level and its all good. Ran a vag com scan and no codes come up. when it wont go and i move the shifter *** over to shift manually it makes a clunk but then shifts fine? Could this be a torque converter? Any ideas i am stumped

 

Start cheap. Do a fluid change, probably needs it anyways.

 

Did you check the fluid level as per the factory service manual? If you just took out the fill plug at least a quart of fluid should pour out, if it didn't then you're low.

 

The tranny pan was dropped and new filter put in with new fluid about 10000-15000 miles ago so dont think it could be bad already. I did check the fluids to spec had it at running temp and everything so I am pretty sure the fluid is at the correct level.
