b5 a4 1.8t redline question
#3
well in stock form probably 7200, but why, the turbo starts to drop pressure after 5500rpm and with the stock valvetrain your gonna get lifter float. but yeah with the right setup and everything it'll go to 8kish. and normal chip pushes redline to 7k

its hypothetical, i am just curious for the fact, not to go out and test it. i am just curious what it is is all. thanks though, anyone have any way to back up their claim? anything concrete

So with the stock ecu the rev limiter is at 7k? I went up to 7k before and let off because it didn't seem like the limiter was going to kick in any time soon. I have no idea if the engine or ecu was modified at all but the engine was screaming so loud that it made me a little nervous lol.

Around 8k for the stock valvetrain, they float and hit the piston going past that. If you want to go higher then that you want to install a set of aftermarket high rev valve springs, I run a set and take my car to 8500 rpm all the time and plan to start pushing it to 9k once I upgrade the turbo again.
