Auto vs manual
#22
I passed up a few good deals on auto A4s when I was looking for my car in order to find a manual; I personally cannot stand Automatic transmissions. I feel far more disconnected from the drive, as though I'm just witnessing the act of driving instead of actually participating. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that I will never purchase another automatic again - that was half the reason I got my A4 and sold my old truck.

This thread upsets me. It makes me want to sell my auto and get a 1.8t stick . I want go fast mods.
Edit: And I think I might just do that... This summer I'm going to convince my younger brother to buy my car for 3k and then I'll be driving around in a 1.8t AVANT. Oh god!

If you're getting the 2.8, then you're obviously not looking to go too fast anyway. Manual is definetly more fun to drive, but if you're looking to just relax and enjoy the drive, the auto is the way to go. I assume if you want the 2.8, you're not going to try and mod much. I might even go on a limb and say, if you decide to go with a stick, you might as well get the 1.8T. Once you start driving an Audi quattro with a manual, you will get the mod bug, and you'll be pissed you have the 2.8...

op, I got my first audi (2.8 quattro in the sig) when I was a junior in high school also. I think I would have wanted to try to get rid of it within a few months if it was automatic... I'm a freshman in college now and I just got a 1.8t quattro manual avant and wouldn't have accepted anything fwd or automatic, I was even offered an auto s4 and turned it down. I've driven in heavy traffic, busy cities, whatever, and have never ever wanted the car to be auto. if you don't know how to drive stick, just learn, it's a lot more fun and a totally different feeling. once you get used to it which you would, you'll probably think it's easier to drive in normal conditions than automatic..
also quattro >>>>>>>>>>>>>> 4motion
also also I just saw a phaeton five minutes ago. it was driving right behind this stock lime green jetta with a large exhaust that I see almost every day ...

Lmao. I tend to hate the drivers more so than the cars.
And yes my car is an auto. I wish I had a stick every time I get in my cahhh. By the way I don't mean to be creepy or anything but while I was working today I was thinking of just lowering my car and keeping the stock 5s... just like you. I even thought of your car hahaha. I don't really want to put anymore money into my car because I want to sell it so badly. Ha.
