Auto Transmission Fulid Change

RE: Auto Transmission Fulid Change
If you use the search function (a very vital tool in on this forum) you will find that the majority will say not to change the ATF because it is so-called sealed unit for life. Although Audi claims this, most will disagree and perform a fluid/ filter change as a preventative measure for the mechanical longevity of the transmission; it only makes sense. Most of the time people will initiate this procedure due to problems they start to experience with shifting and slippage.Imyself just recently done this in attempt to solve some inconsistently in my shiftpoints andminor slippage, unforunately my problem lies deeper in the torque converter which is on it's last leg these days. If your mechanically inclined andhave access tovagcom I would recommend doing this yourself as it will save yousome money.Blauparts.comhasa kit and great step-by-step instructions on how to perform this yourself. I myself would recommend performinga fluid and filter change atleast by 80-90k mi and every 20-30k interval after.

RE: Auto Transmission Fulid Change
Being that I needed my trans fuild changed AND becuase I didn't change it I blew the trans....My recommendation is every 30,000 if u have gone longer then 30,000 leave the old stuff in and never change it..... The reason is is because if u change it after 30,000 that new fluid being introduced to old parts is not good and will ultimately lead to the destruction of the trans.....
