audi recall for timing belt?
#12
what it says......
ok so i just read the letter and it basically says that if you have or every have had your timing belt go that audi will pay for all the bills... even if they are rental car bills or towing bills or anything related to the timing belt going.....it also tells you to get you timing belt and tensioner checked within 1500 miles of your next scheduled maintenance appt. the dont pay for your timing belt to be replaced..... but they will pay to have it checked and if your engine blows due to you timing belt... But only if your car has under 105,000 miles on it... one more thing it say is.. if your vehicle has more than 105,000 miles, and the originally installed timing belt has been previously replaced, you may obtain a free inspevtion on or before september 30, 2008 at any authorized audi dealer. that should help lol

timing belt warranty
2000-2003 a4 and TT with 1.8T
They will:
...Pay for damage resulting from timing belt failure on or before 105,000 miles.
so, most of us shouldn't get excited. If you fixed before it failed, good for you and no money back.

more on the timing belt
the way I read it, they will inspect the current belt "free" as part of a scheduled maint appointment. I bet that appointment costs over $300. As I said before, I'm not getting excited about getting something for nothing.
