Nope, you're fine. I put HIDs in with my stock projectors. You just have to find a place to mount the ballasts, which can be a little annoying.

Just as everyone else said, it should be fine. This is the first time I've heard people say they had difficulty finding a place to mount the ballasts on a B5, though...
I actually just ordered two sets of 6000k HIDs for my car through VVME - one for the low beams, one for the fogs.

I have 6k HIDS, and I'm very happy with them.
[ul][*]6k will have the most light output of the three you listed and be a nice clear white/blue.[*]8k will give you less light output and be more blue.[*]10k will give you even less light output and be blue-purple.[/ul]
Remember, you're not buying just plain HID bulbs because you don't already have them in your B5. You need the conversion kit, which will come with the bulbs, ballasts and everything you need. The kit should also come with instructions on what you need to do. Just a few things to remember, you need to find two good places to mount the ballasts. You will also need to dremel a small hole in the cover that is over your bulbsin the back so that the wires from the HID bulb can come out through and connect to the ballast. You'll then want to cover that up so no moisture gets into your projector. Its really not a hard DIY at all, it just takes a little time to find sturdy places to mount the ballasts. Good Luck!
