Has anyone been able to change the selecter on an auto box?

The factory shifter is so big, ugly and tall.

My old Mercedes selected looked much shorter and discreet.

I'm sure it would improve the look of the interior.

You could always switch it for a manual shifter, but then you'll also need to swap over the transmission attached to it. But seriously, I don't think there's anything you can do that doesn't involve custom work. You might be able to make the B6 Passat shifter work, it looks pretty similar to the B6 A4 shifter which is somewhat similar to the B5 shifter. Or you could get a custom boot made and find a way to attach a more modern shift ****, you'll lose the lighted gear indicator by the shifter but nobody really needs that anyway.
