Default audi a4

I am about to turn 16 and am looking at a 2000 audi a4 quatro 1.8t. The guy selling it said the cruise control doesnt work. And that the air bag computer doesnt work and needs to be fixed. The car has 134000 miles is that high for an audi? How much would the repairs be? The car is for 6995$ now but im hoping to bring him down to 6000 if the repairs are expensive he said he would adjust the price b/c the cruise control/air bag problem. Would it be worth it to buy this car?

cruise control is usually the switch - easy fix we can help you find the parts. I didn't have AF when I got my audi and the shop charged me $365 to replace the switch.

Airbag, it can be other things besides the airbag contol module. no idea how expensive that would be if it was the problem, but there are guys on here that part out cars all the time and I'm sure you could get one cheaper used here.

my 96 has 197K on it and runs fine, I'd say drive it, if you like it, tell him 6 and see if he bites, if anything that gives you space to work up and maybe meet him at 6,5 or something like that.

my girlfriend bought her 2001 with only 82k on it with everything working for $6k, you're also gonna have to worry about oil sludge, make sure it has all the dealer service records in the glovebox

personally i'd run away, if you dont have money (i mean rich) you're gonna feel like there isnt an end to the dark tunnel, esp at 16, it'll need a timing belt done soon (~$1k) if its been done or not, about 65k and 130k is a good time to do it, then you'll need to do suspension repairs most likely, track down and fix the airbag issue and the cruise control

i agree with everyone saying its too expensive.

im 20 and just bought today a 2000 A4 1.8T with 115,000 miles in perfect condition except it has that stalling problem but i picked it up for $2,000.

I have a feeling that the airbag problem will be a costly repair...but just my gut reaction to hearing airbags. I would take the advice and take a look around in the price range to see what else is out there. dont always go with the first one you look at. It might turn out to be a really good deal after looking around.

hope this helps
