Seriously, where do you get your information from??? First you say that 1.8t's can't be fast and shouldn't worry about 1/4 times and now you say that SR's are not respectable.

I know of several sr20det's that are putting down over 700whp that would take you in a heart beat and there are plenty of documented sr20det's that came in a car called the Nissan Silvia that are over 1k hp so for you to say that the sr20det is not respectable tells me you do not know what you are talking about.

You just remind me of one of "those guys" that swears he will never be beat by a 4 cylinder car. I think Mike mentioned the name earlier .....

200,000$ ?!?! wow! what a sucker!

quick rundown of what it would cost me with an ls engine:

$2000 built engine
$1800 built transmission
$2200 2 X gt35r's
$900 A1000 fuel system
$600 Injectors
$500 stand alone harness and ecm
$2000 misc gaskets, mounts and other junk

thats like $10000, maybe add 3k for a solid rear and slicks and you have a 8-9 sec a4 easy.

cincyTT, i never said the 1.8t is bad (well maybe months ago but not anymore). im just saying if your building an all out 1/4 mile car, there are cheaper and better ways to get in the single digits. its great that you guys are building 800 hp 1.8t but gm has been making blocks that warrantied to 2500hp for 5 years now.

the difference is, a 500 hp 1.8t is a pretty modded out 1.8t. a 500 hp genIII small block is just bolt ons.

btw the fastest 5.7l ls1 does the 1/4 mile in 6.866 sec @ 205.47 MPH and makes an estimated 3000hp. thats with the factory 5.7l displacement. there are people making more hp with bored over engines.
Im glad you are starting to come around some. But im still not sure if you have a mines bigger than yours complex or what. When it comes to drag racing, the size of your motor does not matter all that much. There will be 8sec a4's sooner than later, the reason is people are finally pushing these engines to where they should be and getting parts developed that people in the Honda and Evo crowed have used for years. When people start spinning these motors to the 10-11k mark with solid lifter heads and manifolds and head that can flow the hp. Soon enough we will have the 800-900whp and run single digits. Plus keep in mind that im talking about real gas, C16 or something else, not alky like all the people running 6's run.

i never said it wasn't respectable. i just said it wasn't as respectable as the rb engines. both the rb25's and rd26's have much better flowing head.

Ok, good luck trying to make a twin GT35r LS1 fit when in fact the S4 2.7 cant even fit twin GT30's. Hell if it was that easy everyone that owned a 2.8 would be running twin GT's.

So your saying that Twin GT35's and a LS1 is going to fit without the front CV's, do you plan on running all that power thru those 2" thick rear half shafts? LOL, good luck with that one. Believe me I have seen 500hp S4's snap those in a heart beat.

Seems like you think the only way to run into the 6's is with a V8, when in fact there are plenty of imports doing that with 4 and 6 cylinders. Hell they even race in the same events with people running V8's.

BTW nice dream though.

If it was that important for me to break into the 9's I would have done it long time ago just by throwing on a nice shot of nitrous. But for me its about doing it on boost alone and with the stock power plant the car came with. Not to mention I run in events that have runs and it isn't likely you will ever find a sanctioned body that is going to allow a import to run with a V8 power plant, hell most dont even allow V8's and some dont allow engine swaps at all. I also run brackets so going faster isn't exactly an advantage.

If I do get into the 9's thats fine, I am just glad to hold the record as fastest B5 (A4 or S4) in north america and doing so with a little 4 banger.

10.69, also ran 10.81 and 10.82 on the same day. No anti-lag and no flat shifting.
