im not saying the 1.8t was made any worse than the 2.8. i was just showing how the 1.8t was for the lower end a4's and the 2.8l was for the a4's that were considered more equipt. i was agreeing with AteUrV8. it was the cheaper a4.

The reason I challenge him on his points is because the majority of his posts are motivated by how the 2.8 is Superior to the 1.8T. Right or wrong, it's pretty much the main focus of is posting and is beyond old. If I come off as touchy, it's because it seems like he only logs on when he see's an opportunity to talk about why the 2.8 could be better than the alternative. Go ahead and research his posts.. It's almost spam-like.
But anyways!

the wood trim is not fake, its real wood actually. and i dont know how much more economical the 1.8 is... my window sticker on my 2.8 says 25/29 mpg.. im curious as to what a 1.8 window sticker says? does ne one know??

the reason why i don't get 1.8t's is it just too damn expensive for such modest horse power. thats why there are so few that are seriously fast. i have a customer right now spending far more on a 1.8t passat than its worth (i even tried talking him out of it). seems like a big waste to me is all.

so when i see you guys bad mouth the V6 guys, imho you guys are the fools. i shouldn't have said that all a4's are slow. I take that back. I'm sure there are a few that are respectable. then again I've seen Vauxhalls run 9's.
It takes a whole $5k to put an A4 into the 12's. It cost 3 times that much to put a 2.8 in the 13's. Plus the fact that the A4 is always going to get better gas mileage then the 2.8 or even an V8 that is put into the A4.

I know plenty of 8 and 9 second EVo's, doesn't mean I am going to go out and buy one so I too can run that fast.

Huge difference between trying to make huge power in a FWD passat vs a quattro A4, the quattro can actually put the power to the ground no matter how much power you try to make.

I was never for moding a 2.8. An ls1 V8 gets 29 mpg on the highway even with a turbo (cruising of course). you get a much more usable power band and it has a much higher threshold for power. did i mention its way more reliable? don't get me started on the quattro system. in my opinion it one of the most dimwitted and basic awd systems out there. not saying it doesn't do its job but its not that great.

and btw, with 5k you could make a 1000+ hp ls1 no problem.
