In the vag com the rpms do show up, but only when the car is running and not cranking. The car keeps flooding for some reason. That's why it won't start. I have the fuel pressure set a 5 bar cuz of my k04, but I'm gonna lower it to 4 bar (stock). I guess I should also check my injectors.

I hope the o2 sensor will help with the misfires at least.. so I didn't waste $140.

You got way to many fault codes for just an O2 sensor to fix this. Its gotta be a main fuse, relay, or ECM issue. Throwing parts at it won't help.

Is there any way to test the ECM? I have had an ECM go bad in this car already.. maybe something is making them die.

No way of testing them no. I would check the wiring harness from the ECM to the engine, where the harness gets close to the bulkhead it may be shorting it out frying the ECM.

I let the cyls air out cuz they were flooded. I also put the stock plugs back in, and turned down the fuel pressure from 5 bar to 4 bar. The car started right up. I clipped the new o2 sensor in, but didn't install it into the exhaust. Went for a test drive with vag com running, no misfires logged on any cylinders!!

I don't know if this is cuz I reset the ECM, or cuz of the o2 sensors. I just hope it lasts.

Can I just leave the old o2 sensor in the cat if it's unplugged, and have the good sensor connected but hanging in my engine compartment?

I am happy. Thanks to everyone who helped out.

OK first off, the front o2 sensor is the most inportant. i wouldnt drive around with it plugged in and not installed, it tells your computer if you are running lean or rich, back pressure, oxygenlevels. the second one is less inportant. I mean it could have been your spark plugs too. did you check your gaps

Yeah you have to plug in the O2 sensors, it will eventually throw a crap load of fault codes for running lean, rich, no signal, ect. The car runs in open loop when you first start the car which means it doesn't even use the O2 sensors until the car heats up. What im telling you is the O2 sensors DIDN'T DO ANYTHING. Your ECM must have some issues.

yeah, you guys are right. If anyone needs a brand new oxygen sensor, never installed, just clipped in, let me know.

I drove around with the vag com connected a lot today, and most of the day it drove like a champ - no misfires. I think turning down the fuel pressure helped the most. There was a period of about 10 min where the misfires were piling up though, mostly at idle.

The ECM voltage is 13.5 - normal. I know the ECM may still be bad, but I noticed something in the vag.. My ignition angle at idle holds pretty steady at about 22ยบ below top dead center. The vag com says it should be between 0-12ยบ.. pretty far off. My throttle angle holds steady at 4.7%. The vag says normal is .2 - 4%.

I had my timing chain tensioner gasket and water pump replaced.. and I don't think the main mechanic was on duty. It was done by a non-ASE certified guy I think. Could it be my timing?

About my codes. I just realized that when you disconnect the battery, the codes are still stored. So the wacky codes I have probably aren't real. So for the time being I think we can disregard the turbo boost sensor code, the intake air temp code, N75 code, and the ECT code. Sorry for confusing you guys.. I'll delete them from the main post.

Thanks again for caring. Also.. bemor.. you have a refridgerator in your glovebox?! awesome. don't drink and drive though.

If that VAG is saying you have that much throttle angle it means there is a lot of carbon build up on the throttle valve assembly holding it open. Take off the hose on the throttle body and clean off all that carbon.
