Default APR or GIAC

I have a 98 quattro 1.8t aeb and I have a dilema. There is an APR shop (Fast addiction) about 2 hours away from my house, but I really like the Giac software. I have heard that Giac is better in the lower rpm range. The Giac also seems cheaper, and there is the pc-16 upgrade file I can get if I upgrade to the KO4. Also I can get free lifetime upgrades at AWE tuning if I purchase it there. But I also know that APR is a great chip. What do you think?

they are both good, giac is more aggresive, but if you go with apr's stage 3 down the road they will upgrade you cheaper than buying it outright

a k04 after being tuned will not be much of an upgrade, and you have one of the best motors for upgrading...

my vote if you plan on upgrading down the road is apr

I'm going to college next fall, so I dont plan on upgrading any more than a KO4 theres no way I can drop 4,500 into the car I only paid 4,100 for it. I know the KO4 isn't much of an upgrade but 30 extra horses can suit me. I'm not racing or anything.

hey man where in vt are you from? im also in vermont.. and jon at fast addiction is my mechanic and has been for the entirety of owning my car.. two hours away im guessing youre above burlington or somewhere north central like above montpelier.. but jon is the man, and if you decide to make the trip tell him i pushed you over the edge to go haha.. but i got APR tuned from him and i love it.. really is smooth and gives you alot of power but like everyone else said GIAC gives you a little more power earlier in the RPMs.. but really with either one you cant go wrong.. and im also speaking from having an AEB motor too..

If you are thinking about APR then you better get a move on because tomorrow (April 30) is the last day of their fully loaded chip Spring in to Power promotion for $499. That gives you a choice of 4 programs (valet, stock, 91, 93, or 100 octane) and all the bells and whistles like ecu lockout and program changing with the cruise control stalk. Good luck getting there if you decide to go with APR

I am from Waterbury, its like 20 minutes above Montpelier. I have a friend with an s4 that loves fast addiction, and is pushing me to go with apr. I am also worried that Giac might push my little old ko3 too far.

hahah good guess huh? good thing about vermont this state isnt very big lol.. but GIAC or APR will affect your turbo about the same.. but honestly either one is awesome.. i kinda wish i had gone GIAC just to see the difference cause that low end power is what i like.. but APR gets up and ***** its no slouch at all.. but yea jon at fast addiction is the ****.. he knows everything there is to know and i wouldnt trust anyone else.. lol

dang, that's a pretty good deal, it was almost twice that for me to get only 2 programs a couple years back.
