I hqve a 99 audi a4 quatteo 1.8t and it has forge diverter and swiss cheese air box. Also put downpipe but I want more power and louder blow off without a chip for now. Dont have time to send my ecu out. Seems since I put the down pipe made my bank 1 system too lean light code come up and killing me in gas. But I like the blow off and soon need to get a good muffler.

 

you got some research to do. yeah there is a way to get more boost out of it, but i wont tell you how since you'll wreck something. you need to have the proper fueling along with boost. as for the system being lean causing poor fuel milage, that doesn't really make sense. a lean condition means not enough fuel

 

lean in fuel = not enough fuel to much air, rich in fuel = to much fuel not enough air.
As redline said you shouldn't be upping your boost as you will break something, If you were to run more boost without a chip, you need good supporting mods for the least. A chip is the safest way to up your boost.

 

I can afford a chip and dont mind that. I just dont want to send mine off. Are there any good plug in chips?

 

You should look for APR, GIAC, BSR and if one is located near you so you can take your car to them, have it flashed the same day. And their is no such thing as good plug in chip. Don't even bother doing research on these.

 

Best option in my opinion would be buying another another ecu for $75 used and sending that in to speedtuning to get get. Total investment less than $300

 

There are also places that will flash your ECU if you can find one locally, GIAC and APR websites have dealers listed.

 

can they flash his car through obd port like b6? or does the ecu still need to be removed and flashed that way.

When you say "down pipe" do you mean test pipe or cat delete pipe? What's the exact code?

As mentioned, I would pick up a spare AEB ECU and send it out.
