Default Anyone used this IC kit?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AUDI-...#ht_2352wt_880

Saw it on eBay last night while browsing. I know people were wanting to see a $500 complete kit for the B5. This looks pretty close to me! For eBay...

Looks pretty legit, though I'm told the main concern with eBay FMIC's isn't size or fitment but core density. That is, the number of little cooling fins in the core. I'm not sure how much of a difference it would make if you aren't talkin about a BT setup, but Mike Hood would be the guy to talk to about that.

Looks to be a copy of the first Racetec FMIC kit for the B5, but my guess is they are using a very cheap China made core. The pipes look like copies of the earlier Racetec pipes when they used to make the hot side pipe in 1 piece.

BTW it says the core is 50mm, that is less then 2".

The kits are cheap because they are using $50 china cores. The really good cores like Garrett will run around $200+ This is why there is such a big difference in price for the FMIC kits. The ER comp kits use a core that runs around $400, my 800hp Garrett core cost me around $500.

I was just about to say that you can't run those crappy regular clamps if you plan on running good boost numbers...they don't hold the pipes together and they will break if you tighten them too tight. If you are trying to save money, then spend the couple extra bucks to get a decent core, then check out the the DIY section for the Front Mount Intercooler Install...

Would a cheap core like that would do more harm than good?

It would seem that with any intercooler, you are going to see a drop in PSI cause there is more space for the air to fill before it can be shoved into your motor...the cheaper intercoolers don't cool all that well, so its almost like getting the pressure drop without the cooler air.
