Anyone have insight into ripping out aftermarket alarms? 1996 A4
I have a Compustar CM3000 alarm in my car - it came like that from the previous owner.
All was dandy until it started to die if I didn't drive the car every other day. Something obviously is a parasitic drain.
Ripped out after market stereo system to see if that was the culprit. Car still dying.
Checked alternator - gravy.
Then I realized I have an aftermarket alarm with remote started. This thing MUST be the culprit. Now I am not sure if it is, but I am blaming it for right now.
I found the brain of it and un hooked it. Remote start - keyless entry all caput, but car still turns on and power locks work with the key in the door ( Don't have factory keyless)
How can I go about ripping this bitch out? Just follow the wires from the brain and de-splice them???
Where is the stock brain in a 1996 Audi, did they remove it to put this one in?
Any help would be really appreciated by me as my car has been off the road for 6 months because I didn't like getting stuck in parking lots and needing a jump
Thanks
