now i did notice that its under the "OEM" section.. but when u see the part it says stainless steel PERFORMANCE muffler... so do they have it under oem cuz it looks stock... or is it really jsut a stock muffler and i should cancel my order lol

and another thing i just noticed... it says 97-01... i have a 96, is there any difference between the 96 and 97? they both have 12v and are fwd... should i be worried?

I don't think there's anything different about 96 and 97 exhausts.. it's oem, different than the stock one that comes with the cars. a few months ago they sold the entire sport exhaust for like less than $200.. it was all stainless steal and bigger. I think the 1.8t exhaust had a 3" down pipe. so yeah for $50 it should be a big and good difference even if it's just the muffler

so its just an oem muffler? cuz it says it sounds as good as it looks and its a "performance" muffler... i know there is virtually no performance gains in a 12v... but i just want a lil sound added to it... and if this accomplishes it then awesome

it should sound nicer, I don't think I've heard any sound clips though. it's only $50 bucks though and if you don't like it you could probably sell it for more

Mr. Phil - Yeah, it looks like it's an OEM part... has a part number anyway. VW and Audi had OEM upgrades that were in a magazine at the parts department, I am assuming these would have been the upgraded OEM "sports" exhaust. I am sure they will have some sound to them.

It looks like this is a direct replacement for the rear muffler only, you shouldn't need to modify anything on your car since it is a fwd. If I was you I would get this and see how you like it.... You can't beat the price, and a full catback system will set you back quite a bit. I would say get this and run it until you save enough for the catback, then sell it for more than you paid

Got a call from ECS today. They old me that the muffler they were shipping appeared to have superficial dents on the canister. They politely asked if I would still like the muffler, I told them hell's yeah! They took off the cost of shipping so I should have my "new" $55 muffler hopefully by the end of the week.

On an added note, I got my oil changed today and when leaving their torn up parking lot entrance, my flex pipe(s) broke loose. Sending her to a shop tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get good news. Gonna price out replacement exhaust piping anyways because after 13 years, the stock **** is looking pretty beat. Don't think I'll have the muffler by then though........figures, start to order the parts I need to use for replacing the exhaust and a day later, it gives me problems. My Audi is psychic.....
