Default Any way to get a new key cylinder for my driver door?

Ok so before i got my 2000 a4 it had been in an accident where the door had been replaced, but whoever replaced it did not re key the door to work with the key, so the only way to lock/ unlock the car is to use the remote. This wasnt a problem until a few weeks ago when i was pressing the unlock button while trying to find my car in a parking lot and since i wasnt near my car it put my remote into a mode where it does not work, now the only way to get it to work again is to place it in the drivers door and to first unlock the car like that, but since the cylinder doesnt match the key, i am unable to lock my car anymore. At one point i took out the cylinder and brang it to a locksmith who said they could rekey it, but to do that since i didnt have the key to match the cylinder, they would have to pick that lock do re key it, they were unable to do this after 4 days of haing the cylinder. If i buy a cylinder with a matching key and bring it to them would it be possible for them to do it then? or do i have any other option to make my key fully functional again?

I would just buy a new lock cylinder and key, there is only one on the driver's door anyways. If you buy it from the dealer the key should already be cut to match the lock cylinder.
