Another stuck hood...
Ok so i have searched and can't find any additional information regarding stuck hoods.
My hood opened one day and the next day it won't pop-up or release. The cable is loose on the inside lever but the hood doesn't budge and no sounds are made in association. I can move the hood up and down using 2 hands to pull it but it doesn't move more than a millimeter or two; the front lever moves freely but doesn't do any good.
I have tried to pry it open, can't reach anything from underneath, pulling up and down doesn't help, and I have tried to unbolt the hood latch but i cannot for the life of me reach because the 3rd bolt cannot be seen. I have considered cutting the hood latch with a hacksaw blade but thought i would post around here first.
Anyone have any ideas short of all out destruction?

Mine was jammed shut after I hit a deer. The body shop cut a square hole in the hood around the hinge, but my hood was creased anyway.
You can try removing the bumper to see if you can gain access at a better angle with a long hook, but I'm just not sure it will work.
It sucks. Good luck.

Thanks for the input.
The grill is currently sitting in my wife's car
I can get some fingers on the part of the loop but there is part of the latch that seems to be holding it. I would drive it to a repair shop but the battery is dead.
My thinking is that the cable never reset after i opened the hood the day before. The car has been sitting idle for 3 months while i was on deployment and the hood is just on problem.
Does anyone know if the latch is a simple mechanism or does the cable connect to an independent latching mechanism which doesn't depend on the hood being open or closed. Could this be seized in a position that would keep it from popping the hood?

Thanks for the diagrams but i fear it didn't shed much light for me.
I took apart the knee dash and attached a pair of vice grips to the cable end. Pulling on it didn't provide and results, it would pull freely for about 3-4 inches then stop. I have tried pulling on it multiple times but to no avail.
i was wondering if anyone could post a good picture of the latching device (with the hood open) so I can see the parts that are in my way.
If i cant get it to budge soon, i am going to have to perform surgery on the hood with a saws-all and it might not be pretty.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
