I checked the plugs and they seemed normal. tried starting the car and it started and stayed running.. if I would press on the gas it would start to die. I let it run for about a minute and then the cel came on... four codes...
P0102: MAF or VAF A circulation low input
P1565: Idle Speed Control Throttle Position lower limit not attained
P1544: Throttle Actuation Potentiometer Signal too High
P0123: TPS/Pedal position sensor A circuit high input
positive update..
got this
magnaflow 10415 to replace the mid resonator, $58 shipped from ebay. I'll have a pipe going back from it to a y pipe into two turn down tips. hopefully that one muffler only won't be too loud
unrelated but also got this..

the lens was about $125 shipped from ebay, refurbished. it's a 55-200mm af-s vr as you can see. the picture quality isn't amazing (I guess not too different the original 18-55 lens) but it's very nice to be able to zoom in that much. if you want a new lens, I'd definitely recommend a 1.8 50mm lens, what a lot of people the nifty fifty. you can easily find one for under $100 and the picture quality is very good. a lot of the pictures I've posted in this thread were taken with that. a polarizer filter is also nice to have and is cheap
I'm going to check out the maf tomorrow and see if there are any obvious signs of it being bad. could a bad maf sensor cause all of those codes?

its not related to your other issues, the squeak is propably like mine, around the clutch peddle there is a bushing, just shoot some grease in there. I did it last night. no more squeaks. someone else had the same issue, and has pictures on what they did. dont remember who
