Have a 2000 A4 quattro. When I lock the car the alarm goes off randomly for about 45 secs at a time, keeps happening till I unlock it. Just started yeaterday. Factory alarm, factory sound system, except added amp & subs.
Any idea?????

 

if you look at the piller next to your driver seat. You will probably see a little square button. Click that button once. It activates the sound/vibration sensor inside of your car. There is asmall grill looking thing at the top corner of each of the four windows. The button controls wether these sensors are on or off. Give it a try see if that works.

 

Thanks, I'll give it s shot. Just noticed if I lock the doors manually it does not do it, only if I lock them with the remote, not setting the alarm

 

Have you had any windows down or your sunroof popped?

 

Mine use to do that alot too. I turned off the motion sensor, and it doesn't do it nearly as much.

 

Mine does that occasionally. On my car at least, it is fixed by opening and slamming shut all doors, hood and trunk. Sometimes the sensors don't read that the hood , trunk or door is closed.

 

mine has done that as well. an audi mechanic told me my hood latch could be going bad....??? it hasnt done since i could him and talked to him....he suggested slamming shut the hood, trunk, and all the doors like david9999 said....it worked.

Spoke too soon, after driving it it went off again. Where is the sensor located under the hood? In the latch?

 

Yea, Mine used to do that, It was the little switch under the hood that was broken. It was like 10 bucks to get from audi and put it in under 30 seconds.
