Default alarm, arming car

well my keyless entry stopped working once i replaced the batteries in the remotes.. i've tried to reprogram it, but to no avail.

but in the meantime.. is there any way to arm the car with just the key? the light on the locks do not blink when i lock my doors via the keyhole.

also, my powerlock does not work anymore since replacing my battery..i am wondering if this will affect the arming of my car at all? i hear the air pump but it only locks/unlocks the driver door.

thanks in advance

Yeah sounds like something is up with the central locking module, youll probably need a VAG.

what would a vag be able to tell me? i have never used one before, but if i can predict what it would tell me, perhaps i can look into the possible problems before purchasing one.

Your right that was a lazy response on my part. Well, first id say to try and reprogram the key, since your sure that didnt work we can rule that out. Next, i would wonder if leave your dome lights off, cuase if you do i would turn one on (to the door open position) to make sure a door switch isnt broken (if its the drivers that was broken, it would prevent you from using the lock toggle switch next to the handle). The fact it doesnt want to arm with a key makes me think a door is open and the fact that the toggle switch doesnt work makes me think it thinks the drivers door is opened, however if the dome light doesnt come on then i wouldnt think it was a faulty switch then. The way to arm with the key is in the door like you have tried. If it were me id pull the fuse on the central locking for a couple hours, plug it back in and see what happens/ try and reprogram a remote again.

Theres no gurauntees a VAG would help but it does show codes related to faulty door switches, status of key position, why alarms were tripped and whether it has an internal error so theres a good chance that would help.
