Default Air Intake or Drop-in Filter??

hey guys, I was looking to do a few mods to my 96 2.8 quattro and was looking at different intake and wondering if it's better to spend the extra money on a new intake or just get a good quality replacement filter??

In my opinion unless your planning on building the car further then get an intake otherwise get a nice K&N pod filter, will make the car sound a little different, slightly better throttle response, in generally an affordable and nice little mod.
