Angry Air Filter replacement how to...

I was trying to take a peek at my air filter to see if it needs replacement but couldn't figure out,where it is and how to get it off,anyone care to give me a small tutorial or step by step or link me to a diy?

If you're just replace stock with stock there is no step by step. Unsnap the lid (metal clips), lift, pull out, put in and clip.

unsnap what? you say that as if i've done this before,you have to be more specific.

its this big plastic rectangular thing LOL it has 4 metal clips around it, just unclip them and take the top off. the air filter will be located there and all you do is take it out ^^

on the very left the plastic thing with the air vent on the top. just pull it off

ok,now i know why i am confused,i don't have that vent cover,that you have in your v8 engine,mine is a 4 cylinder engine,i don't have that cover there.

I included some pics,lets play,can you name that part! tell me where the air filter is located and also,the air cabin filter and the air filter are two different things,right? or are they one in the same?

Thank you guys or girls that may service their Audi A4's too ^_^

cabin filter and air filter are different! You know I'm going to run out to my car and take pics cuz I honestly am laughing so hard that I feel bad!

Thank you much,bmorekd84 I so needed this,i am so clueless on where to start on doing it myself. Where did everyone start? how do i get familar with all the parts and components in my 2001 Audi A4 1.8T?

Here's mine since I took the time to do this I'm still posting it!
Step one:
Find your car should look similar to this:
Name:  IMG00203-20100524-2047.jpg
Views: 791
Size:  33.1 KB

Step two:
Pop the hood by pulling on this:
Name:  IMG00208-20100527-0929.jpg
Views: 711
Size:  24.6 KB

Step three:
Open the hood by pulling this and lifting:
Name:  IMG00210-20100527-0930.jpg
Views: 750
Size:  33.0 KB

Step four:
Remove these just pull on them they come off:
Name:  IMG00211-20100527-0930.jpg
Views: 852
Size:  35.1 KB

Step five:
(kept large so you can see) 4 clips (red) remove them and lift, still can't get at it might have to remove the 2 screws (blue)

Step six do all in reverse! Drink a beer! Any questions let me know I'll be happy to answer them! And now that you've done it....
