Default Air Bag Light

My air bag light kicked on yesterday, Just of no where. I don't know much about the electronics on this car yet but i'm assuming there is a sensor somewhere that went bad.

Your car has 10 air bags in it. Any one of these can cause the light to come on. It's usually the seat airbags that the connectors get loose and cause the light to come on. If you have VagCom you can reset this.

If you're lucky, it is a bad connection, likely under one of the front seats. If you're unlucky like me, it is the Airbag Control Module, which are about $700 for the part. If you get a memory fault code from the ACM, then you're going to have to replace it. I got mine replaced because I was sick of the airbag light being on and didn't know if my airbags would fire if I got in an accident.

I had that light turn on out of nowhere too the other day. Luckily it magically turned off about 30 seconds later.

Sounds like a communication issue with the instrument cluster.
