I figured from the burble at idle. It's a bit rude, but it doesn't sound terrible.

I've yet to hear a 1.8 that I didn't think sounded raspy

Mine doesn't. The Borla cat-back comes with a resonator.

haha yeaa.. ive seen the remus setup on a passat before and it looked rediculously horrid.. didnt sound that good in my opinion either.. i got the full borla set up with resonator.. and if youre looking for a deep tone, with no highway drone and an awesome loud sound when you get on it then borla is perfect.. im so glad i didnt go custom with a magnaflow (other than the cost which woulda been nice).. the crackle and loud sound of non resonated or straight pipes makes just wasnt for me, i wanted a mellow but loud aftermarket sound which is exactly what i got.. but thats just me, if youre looking for something loud and scary, do it upp... and yea mine doesnt sound raspy at all.. its very even toned and deep.. by the way there is a vid of an RS4 on youtube somewhere with an exaust that i cant remember... it sounds like straight sex... ima see if i can find the link

yea i wanted the loud sound thats why i removed the resonator...
and yea its all preference weather to get the deep mellow sound or the loud one like me...
yea borla sounded too stock to me at least, the vids i watched on youtube were to mellow and quiet....
so imo if youre doing your exhaust get it done right and get something louder than stock, i mean that is why you are getting it done right? performance and better louder sound. ? ?

The Borla is a lot louder and deeper than stock, especially under boost. Add a Labree HFC and it gets even louder. What's nice about the Borla setup is that it isn't rude at idle, so people standing near your car or getting into it aren't offended and the neighbors don't call the cops when you decide to spend a few extra minutes idling in the driveway.

yea probably but all the borla clips i heard were to stock sounding to me at least..?
yea i got a labree hfc, that things amazing love it...
yea i like that you can hear my car at idle, once again just my opinion,
and its cool cuz alot of my neighbors all have 5.0 mustangs or camaros that are alot louder than my car so its cool...
