Well day two and no problems, and still running the K&N. I'll do a little experiment to see how long it takes for the problem to reappear, if at all. But cleaning the MAF did make the problem go away.

It might not even come back.. just the initial amount of oil 'pulled' from the filter could have done it.. but, the problem most definately was the oil in the K&N..

Funny how I have made all this power and have used the SAME K&N FOR OVER 4 YEARS NOW.....

Oh well I must be the luckiest ************ in the world......

Good for you. And you haven't tried the Amsoil filter, either.

Why fix what ant broken?

It's not a problem that you stick to your paper filters in you stock Audi, just don't go running your mouth. Your quick to jump on the wagon and bash a product that I'm certain you have never used on your audi. Hearsay gets blow out of perspective to the point where posts get made like yours.

Point is that 99.9% of the time it's OVER OILING during time of recharge that causes issues not the filter it's self.

I've used K&N products multiple times and have had problems with the oil with a brand new filter that I didn't have to oil. Happened with the one in my G8 multiple times. There's no reason to deal with that crap.

I'd say it is more likely that I got the MAF filter dirty when I installed the K&N rather than the K&N causing any problems at all. It was brand new, I didn't need to oil it, and I've used K&N's before.

I have seen the Amsoil filter and I wasn't that impressed. The dealer's entire argument was that the K&N flowed to well and was going to let dirt into my car's intake.

The problem hasn't returned since I cleaned the MAF. Still amazed that it made the car act that strangely at random times. It's possible I just got a small spec of dirt in there. Who knows.

End of discussion.
