Adjustable fuel pressure regulator

RE: Adjustable fuel pressure regulator
I just picked up a fuel pressure tester at autozone.. will that work, or should I return it and order the ECS gauge? Also, how do I tell which line is going into the FPR and which is leaving it? I'm assuming I tap into the line that's leaving the FPR.
The FPR turns on its base a bit when I adjust it, is this normal? it seems normal, just makin sure.
Thanks for the info everyone.

Im not sure how a fuel tester works. But if it can read fuel pressure with the car running, i shouldwork.
The gauge would go before the fuel rail. Thats the opposite side of the line from the fpr.

I just called the previous owner to ask why he had this on there. Turns out I have a k04 in there, which he didn't bother telling me about. He recommeded 5 - 5.5 bar for the k04. My boost spikes to at least 23psi where the gauge maxes out. Should I stick with 4bar or crank it up a bit?
He said I have stock injectors.. should I have different injectors for the k04?
Also, when I sent my ECU in to GIAC to flash it, they didn't know I had a k04. Do I need a different tune for this turbo?
I have a BOV but it's not installed, it's just mounted in the car. Do I have any reason to hook that up?
I wish he would have told me this stuff before I bought the car. At least I found out i have h&r springs and billstein shocks.

The tune from gaic would be running thestock injectors@5bar. Set it there and forget it. Not sure how you have a bov installed but not hooked up. You mean a dv installed and not recirculating?

RE: Adjustable fuel pressure regulator
I went ahead and ordered the ECS FP gauge for 30 bucks + shipping.
The BOV is just mounted in the engine compartment without any hoses attached. He did say there's a metal DV on it, which it is running through now. I assume it's recirculating. Should I bother with the BOV?
Any chance getting all of this dialed in could cure a misfire?
lots of questions, i know. Thanks for the help cincy and others.

Should I bother with the BOV? You still have me kind of confussed. You have a dv in place, which sounds like a nice forge or simular peice and you have a bov (what kind) mounted where exactly?
Any chance getting all of this dialed in could cure a misfire? If you are having misfires, your plugs are probably to large and/or you have to much fuel. Check your plugs and they should be .028 and a heat range colder than stock (7 and not 6)

it's a nice surprise, but it would have been nice to know before i purchased the ride.
About the plugs, I just installed some NGK BKR7E's, gapped at .028. The misfire is still bad. The coil packs have been replaced with hitachi's by someone. I figure once I get the fueling situated I'll start checking the electrical side of things.
I'm not sure what brand BOV it is, but I took a pic. I can see why I confused you cincy.. the BOV is definately connected to something. I don't know anything about BOV's, all I know is theres a tube that looks like a hose should connect to it on top, and there's no hose connected. The previous owner described the BOV as "not hooked up."

That is a HKS (possibly knock off) ssqv. If there isnt a HKS stamped on it, get rid of it asap. That nipple on the back should have a vac line from the intake manifold on it. If not, it wont open. And if you have been driving around like that, your not venting between shifts and the air is damaging the turbo and most likely causing your misfires. Either install they bov now or plug in the vac line to fix it.

When I'm driving the misfires seem to increase with the boost gauge.
Thanks for possibly saving my turbo..
