Default ABS Sensor Removal

I recently replaced my rear wheel bearing. I decided to take the spindle off the car and then take the spindle to a shop to have the bearing pressed in. I decided to take the ABS sensor out of the spindle when I did this. I couldn't find much on how to remove the sensor from the spindle and there wasn't a bolt holding it in and I read online that it is "push-in style" so I assumed if I pried on it a little it would come out. Well, I ended up breaking the sensor. So for future reference, I'm wondering how it is you get one out of the spindle without breaking it. And is there anything I can do when I install the new one to make it easier to remove if I need to later? I took some pictures of the hole in the spindle it goes in so it would hopefully make it easier to explain how to remove the sensor. I noticed the hole in the spindle looks a little rusty. I sprayed some WD40 around the sensor before trying to pry it out in the hopes that it would make it come out easier. So some of the rusty look may be from the WD40 running down through the hole and taking rust/dirt particles with it.

I remove them from the inside. Destroyed one once by trying to pull it out so now I pull the CV joint out of the hub, put a socket extension against the "inner face" of the sensor, and tap it out of the housing.

Thanks for the replies. I never thought about going at it from the inside. Definitely sounds like a better idea than trying to pry it out. Thanks.
