About $1100 worth of repairs to do, any advice to save money?
Hey everyone,
So I have a list of things I need to fix on the car, I added everything to my cart on ECS tuning and it comes to about 1100$, here is a link: FML
This is my list of repairs:
valve cover gasket
rear brake callipers+rotors+pads
oil change
wipers
spark plugs
air filter
springs (not now)
timing belt
g12 coolant
cam chain tensioner
oil level sensor
rear o2 sensor
Do you guys have any advice on how I could save some money on all this? Any sites with better prices? Keep in mind I live in Canada and some sites don't ship to us.
Thanks a lot

Fcp
+1 for FCPGRoton and FCPEuro...Same company, two sites...
Good quality stuff and great prices and now with free shipping..
I'd definitely put them on your list.
Autohausz has hooked me up pretty well also...

You can save $100 if you get the timing belt stuff from FCP Groton instead of Blauparts or ECS Tuning. If you've done a TB before, and don't mind buying the G12 coolant separate from the TB kit, then I'd say go with FCP. If you want a complete kit with full instructions and access to a tool rental kit, go with Blauparts.
Air filter, plugs, wipers get at Advance Auto online with a 20% off coupon code and select store pickup at checkout.

Thank you for all the suggestions, FCP has great prices for the timing stuff. I'm just wondering now if I should do the water pump at the same time?
The only part that I'm really having trouble finding a good deal on is the rear callipers!! I am trying to find some that don't have a big core price where you need to ship back your callipers. Shipping my callipers to them from Canada just isn't worth the price. Anyone seem callipers at a good price?
Thanks

The carriers are definitely shot, they are seized up, I have rebuilt them once before but this time I'm just getting new ones. As for the calipers when I pull/release my handbrake the calipers stay clamped down because they are so rusted. I have tried cleaning them up and it worked for a while but now they really need to go.

I've replaced everything you're about to and more, except for rear calipers. From one Canadian to another:
Only buy from US retailers that use USPS to ship to Canada. Cheapest shipping, and if they use flat-rate boxes like FCP, you don't pay customs(customs is included in price). UPS, FedEx etc will RAPE you on customs fees due to their customs brokerage, ie they wanted $40 at the door for a $20 dollar item. Never again.
FCP Groton - shipped the whole front control arm/tie rod set to me via flat-rate box and no customs fees. Best deal for Canadians by FAR! So if you order ask them about flat-rate to Canada. They e-mailed super fast and made me feel like they really really wanted my business.
Blauparts and JHMotorsports ship USPS +, plus each of their service was excellent+++
ECSTuning does ship USPS but they don't do flatrate boxes yet so they are on the high end - plus they screwed up my order and blamed it on me. Coolant sensor was different than pictured. -- my service experience was poo.
PureMS seems cool, but found out they do not ship to Canada. -- don't want your business! - - -
For the timing belt kit with water pump etc, I went with JHM 'cause it came with the how-to DVD. I had done TBs on other cars, but was interested in the little tricks. DVD was awesome and didn't need the stupid locking bar.
Good luck.
