Default A4 won't unlock and no blinking light! HELP ASAP!

I got off work and went to unlock my car after a nice long day and nothing happened. I put the key in and turned it to the left and nothing. Either way and either door and nothing happened. I called an Audi service center and they said I should be able to unlock it regardless of the battery condition. The other thing is the red light next to the lock wasn't lit up like usual. I'm wondering if the battery is dead or its too cold to unlock cause of the vacuum.

I am at a total loss with what to do now.

Any ideas?

Mike

Cuz of the Vacuum? ...... the car isn't air tight by any means. The door could be iced shut if its been wet out and really cold. Does the lock go up when you turn the key? I had my passenger door not open from the outside a couple times but it was really cold and wet and froze something.

Nope. Nothing happens when I turn the key. I'm hoping I don't have to have it towed and fixed at a shop.

ugh, i had this happen to me last year. it was a combo of things that started with a car wash and included a dome light left on while at work. for me, it was the cable that actuates the latch mechanism. the cable froze into the housing. the crappy part was that i had the door all apart and as soon as i touched the cable, i heard it pop and saw it jerk a bit. i figured it thawed a bit because i was working in a heated garage. i got in through the hatch and open the door from inside, but i have the avant, so it's a bit easier to crawl through. i know it sounds crazy but that's what happened to me. best of luck. let it sit in the sun for a bit or try a blow dryer/heat gun down inside the door.

Sounds like either the cable that attaches to the inside handle and latch is either frozen or fallen off

Once you go in through the trunk, maybe take the door panel off and have a look? At least thats where i would start.
