Just wondering if this is a good deal or not.. 1996 audi a4 2.8 quattro 180k miles he says theres no leaks, no lifter noise.. no burning oil.. all synthetic oil changes.. i don't know how long these 2.8 motors will last.. sorry for $4500

 

timing belt replacement/water pump? and for how much that would help a bit. The 2.8 will last a while as long as maintenance was consistent and done at the right times. Bad thing about 2.8L 12 valves is that they cannot be modded at all other than a cold air intake.

 

good deal or not usually involves some money. which leads us to, how much?

 

unless the price is real low I'd pass. Save a few more dollars and get a 1.8T

Agreed way way way tooo many miles for that price.

 

Eeek....I got my 96 2.8 12v with 103k for 4300 (I still think it was a little too much, I wanted to pay 3800-4000 but I reaaaaaaally wanted it and was sick of looking for cars). 4500 is way over the top, with that many miles you are asking for issues, it will need a new timing belt soon (assuming theyve been done every 80k or so....) which is $$$. BTW every 2.8 12v burns oil (states this in the manual) just FYI. I would steer clear of this one, I plan on having my 12v for another 80k or so but I would not buy one with that kinda mileage, not even close to that price.
