A4 (2000) Remote Control Locking functionality returns
Hi everyone
Long time owner of a lovely little A4 (first time poster). I have had this car for about 7 years now and for at least the last 6 my remote control hasn't functioned. I have since had the key replaced (immobilizer chip failed) but this was about 3 years ago. The garage said they had no luck in getting the remote to work so I assumed that the reciever was knackered and pressed on without it much to my annoyance.
It has an after market DAB radio complete with a dual amp setup which had left me with some rather complex wiring inside. Earlier today I had the radio out and cleared up some of the extraneous wiring and managed to unplug a fair bit keeping functionality. The sound system has evolved and some stuff just never got unplugged at the front end. MAGICALLY since then my remote has been working just perfect. Can anyone explain what I did to fix it? I was surprised that any of the radio wiring looms had anything to do with the car door remote control or was there perhaps some interference in the wiring causing the problem. Can anyone explain how the remote control system works in a 2000 A4 B5 1.8? I would be keen to know so I don't lose the functionality now I have it back as I have to do a little more work on the radio over the next few days?
Cheers
