lol its a damn lawnmower!

run it long enough to get the oil spashed around and take the valve cover off. If there is little to no oil..bad circulation.

another thing it could be is the cam chain tensioner. If that is the case please dont drive it lol

Worst case scenario there is something wrong with the head. Do a compression test to see if there is a valve is stuck.

Good luck

It happend at around 185-200*F i guess ill try heavier oil and if still is like that then ill proceed with what bmoore98A4 said. So what could cause a bad circulation if that would be the case? And if not how do i find out if the tensioner is bad? Again thanks for all your help.

Clogged oil pump or journals could cause poor circulation. Which means sludge buildup. You're a 1.8T so sludge is an issue you have to watch out for.

Does the car have sufficient power? Does the noise continue across the whole rev range or it is only at idle? If my car made that noise, I'd tow it to the nearest Audi mechanic.

You can clean the oil journals by running an ATF/kerosene blend for about 10 minutes through the engine. It's an old redneck trick that'll probably make most of the guys on here cry and scream.

Only on idle. I dont hear anything at all when i rev it or running. And no loss of power in fact im running really well. I'll take out the valve cover this week and see whats up.

It is very possibly a collapsed lifter giving the ticking noise. I have had a lot of luck with many engines changing the oil with a synthetic brand, Lucas and a high flow oil filter. Sometimes the extra bump in oil pressure is all it needs. If it does so happen to be a timing chain tensioner you would be hearing the noise closer to the back of the head towards the firewall. If you put your hand on the top of the valve cover you will actually be able to feel the chain rubbing against the aluminum valve cover in some cases. If the chain tensioner is the problem I have a step by step walk-through on how to change it out without taking the timing belt off which almost all guides will tell you to do.

Thanks and good luck

that's exactly what i'm experiencing. Ticking is coming from the back part of the head. 1-2 inches from the firewall. but how come i only here it after driving for awhile or when oil temp gets hot? but anyway ill just order the valve cover gasket kit from blauparts. I'll post pic when i get the cover off. Thanks.
