99 A4 will not run! Only throwing O2 code!
I have a 1999 A4 1.8T. Car was running fine like it always does, when immediately after topping of the tank ( 1/2 A tank was put in) the car starting running badly and had to be towed. My sister had the car at the time so I am not exactly clear on how all transpired. Did the VAG thing and got 1code. Lambda circuit B1. S2 indicating the post cat o2 sensor. The car will run now ,but only when it's stone cold , it dies after about 20-30 sec. And is all done. Would this bad o2 sensor cause these symptoms? It seems to me that the car would still run? I really doubt that the gas was bad as I only added 1/2 a tank. Thanks much do any clues! Oranges

the secondary o2 will not affect your car in that way, so you have another issue. what i would personally do is clear the code (actually reset the ecu by removing ground from battery) and test it out. if nothing got better you have other issue. check things like fuel pressure and spark

Idles fine but acts like it's starving for fuel if you try to rev it up. By playing with the gas pedal you can rev it it to 3500rpm's or so but the engine does not respond to the gas pedal as it should

Since it started right after putting gas in it, thats where I would start. Pull a quart of so of gas into a glass jar and see if it has water or something else in it. Did your sister get diesel into the tank by mistake?

Could be the coolant temperature sensor, but generally it'll long for a couple of minutes before dying if that was the case. Monitor the sensors in vagcom and see if any show a reading that seems impossible or odd (ie. hot coolant or intake air, too much/little maf flow, etc.) It could be that the car dies as soon as it enters closed loop idle because a sensor is throwing everything way off, and that won't trigger a CEL most of the time.

Also, when I remove the gas cap shouldn't I hear a little whooshing noise? I
