99 a4 b5 headlights + seat covers
Hey all,
My leather seats are torn to **** and a previous owner actually spray painted them black from the original tan (can only imagine why...)
Its a all black car, inside and out mostly. Id like to go for a smoked type look on the outside all around.
Anyway I was curious if anyone had suggestions for a new full set of seat covers and also new headlights.
for headlights I was looking at this selection:
99 a4 r8 headlights | eBay
and seat covers 99 a4 seat covers | eBay
I basically would like a high quality headlight - not some pos since they seem to cost around 250. Not sure which is best. I do like the r8 style.
As for seat covers, comfy and not bumpy/shitty is most important.
Anyone got suggestions?

If you have 2 piece headlights, pre-facelift, you're going to have to trim your fender back to get any 1 piece headlight to fit. It's not that hard to do with a Dremel.
What most members (including myself) on here have and will suggest are 1 piece projector ecodes by Depo or Helix (same product), or they have OEM Valeos.
If I were you, I would double check that I like the way the R8 style looks on a B5 first before buying. They might not look how you think when on the car. PLUS if you plan on wiring them yourself, I remember someone having an issue getting the LEDs to light up properly. You might be looking at some time in the shop or some custom fab work.
The ecodes have the clear corners, and look like these:
A4/S4 1999-2002 Projector Headlights Chrome
You can usually find a set between $200 and $250 on ebay. Sometimes the seals on them aren't great and they need to be resealed to stop/prevent them fogging up. I don't know why I can't find any. If you wait a couple days, they might show up. I paid $230 for mine and two hours later the price was relisted at $210.
Arguably the best headlights you could buy are Valeo one piece projectors like in the updated version of the B5. They are super expensive. European Styling for Audi A4 B5 and S4 B5 E-code HeadLights Xenon 1999.5 - 2001
Keep in mind those are prices per each headlight whereas the eBay ones are for a set.
I can't help you on seat covers

I saw those even when I went to buy mine. I didn't want to go with preinstalled though. The pictures don't show the backside so you can't really tell what type of connector you're going to get.
If you have pre-facelift, you're going to need the carside adapter like this: Audi B5 A4 Quattro 1.8T > Lighting > Headlights > ES#86 A4 European Headlight Wiring Harness - A4UROWIRINGKIT-A
You can try to find a part out and then have the wires soldered and heat shrink wrapped onto your car. I found a pair through the VWVortex classifieds for $20 shipped.
If you have a facelift model then you won't/shouldn't need the adapter.
Most people find that black housings look best on silver cars and nothing else really. If your car is silver, PM ImTheDevil (site moderator) as he has them on his silver 99 and they look pretty sweet. Very nicely done.
Also, I bought the housings with the city bulb design built in. You might want to look into it. It would look something like in this picture. Aledelic42 chose an amber color bulb, but they can be anything

i've been considering some decent seat covers since my seats are completely shot. they're tan and my car's green, so i could go with either black or tan it wouldn't make much of a difference. if you end up buying something let us know if they fit good and whatnot

I ended up getting these and the quality is pretty damn good, like mentioned i have a 1998 and had to trim fender to fit and rewire. no leaks and good lighting. i can't complain and yes there were $260 or so.
