99.0 A4 1.8T using oil? Slow leak? Into coolant?
Hi,
Over the last year, I have noticed that my 99 1.8T (92,000 miles) is using a a bit of oil, but I don't know where it is going. About every oil change (5000 miles) I seem to need a quart.
There are no visible signs on the floor, or out the exhaust pipe (passed Cal emissions, no problem).
Anyone have any ideas? I have been using Mobile 1 for the last 6-7 years.
Thanks!
Dave

Your coolent would change color if it was mixing. You either have a bad pcv system or your piston rings are wearing. Pull the hose off your throttle body and check for a bunch of caked on or pooling oil and also get a compression tester (pretty cheap, like $25) and do a compression test. 180psi/cyl is new, 140psi is lowest limit and you dont want more than 10% diff between highest and lowest
