Default 98 A4 Quattro starts, sputters, stalls, wont move

Got this car essentially for free not too long ago, had to replace the rear springs, still have weird problem with car 'floating' during snow, over bumps, or in heavy rain, but thats not the issue we're having now. Also having issues with the fuel and temp gauges. The car sat for a month after we fixed the springs, and it ran fine right after.
Last week I drove it for a while, and it would not go over 35-40 up hills, could not get it to go over 65 unless I was going down hills. Car sat for a couple days, tried driving it again, and it started stalling out on me. At first it would stall while driving if I was slowing down or stopped, but it finally wouldn't move on me and I had to get it towed home.
Now it starts, sputters, and dies on me, or I can start it, rev the engine, and it'll either cut out immediately or stall when I take my foot off the gas. We just replaced the fuel filter today, same issue, and we're currently looking at the MAF sensor right now.
Any other ideas? We've been looking for answers all day and at this point we're stuck.

Try some MAF cleaner sounds like that's your problem. Or unplug it and see how it revs if it revs fine that's your problem.

Ya we cleaned the MAF and nothing changed. We're leaning toward it being the fuel pump relay now, not positive yet. A friend of mine is going to get the diagnostics on it soon.
